Why I Stopped Using Dream Boards (The OLD Way)

Dream boards are a common strategy for harnessing the Power of Attraction. This is where you cut out pictures or phrases that represent goals you want to accomplish. The theory is by focusing energy on it, your enhanced intentions will supercharge your ability to manifest such goals in your life.

I used to be a dream board enthusiast. In fact, you can still find my Instagram and blog posts on this topic. I am happy to say that I seemingly manifested most, if not all, of the the items on those dream boards. It was so powerful, it even seemed to work for exact amounts of money! (Hey, a girl’s gotta pay back her student debt somehow, right?!).

However, I realized by imaging my goals too specifically, it left out all options for anything else!

In other words, was I creating restrictions on the potential gains in my life by being TOO detailed? Yes. Yes, I was.

Sometimes our brain takes over and thinks it has the best of plans for us. Even in goal-setting, logic has limits!

I don’t have anything against dream boards, if it’s working for you, but if you want to take manifestation to the next level, why not try some of these tweaks:

  • If you are doing traditional dream boards, really let the pictures SPEAK to you. Try not to go “looking” for a specific photo (unless it REALLY does represent ALL that you want).
  • Play some really uplifting music that really puts you in a JOYFUL state- THEN choose photos that really resonate with you, from that joyful place.
  • Before you even get ready to start your dream board, just ask yourself with curiosity, “I wonder what will come up?” or “I wonder what beauty can be manifested.” Asking yourself these open-ended questions with curiosity, rather than pressure and expectation, automatically supercharges your intuition.

If you’re not into dream boards in the first place, why not try another strategy? I played around with mantras and affirmations and digital vision boards, but also have put my intentions to paper.

Curious to give it a try?

  • Get out a piece of paper and a pen (I love to use feel-good journals or paper and pens – because it has to feel ‘good’ right?).
  • Focus on some GOALS/RESULTS (but leave some room for magic).
  • Also, take care NOT to pencil in the ‘HOW’ it will happen (you don’t want to lead with logic).
  • Then ‘let it simmer.’ Choose a special place to reference your written intentions as often as you like (which can also mean by the time they’ve already manifested!).

Whatever method you choose for manifesting more beauty in your life (yes, even dream boards), be open to those creative solutions the Universe/Source/Divine/God has for you. Don’t let your logical mind limit this potential!

Happy manifesting!
